I was just looking at the UP aux tender that is on auction, and the front page of the manual was in the pix. In this plug and play, and what should be also backwards compatible world, the warning on the front cover about only hooking the Proto 3 tender to a Proto 3 loco or you will fry the electronics is a very poor design.

What exactly is such a poor design?……..sounds more like evolution than poor design…….PS3 surpassed PS1 & 2. They make that quite clear on the front cover,…

Even on PS2 loco's you can not swap tenders unless they are the same vintage and model. The electronics in the engine and the tender are a matched set.
Also, not brand specific. Never swap Lionchief engines and tenders, nor Lionchief Plus.
Even wireless IR drawbar tenders, they may not function due to differences in serial data command set- so it pretty much is universally a bad idea- never swap tenders between 2 engines on modern sound electronic systems.
