Anyone ever heard of a smoke bulb brush? Part number 671-60. I see one for sale. It's news to me.

I have one but mine came with my Berkshire that has a smoke pellet smoke unit. As a kid I always used it to clean the pellet residue from around the outside & inside of the stack. There were times when the residue buildup would almost close the stack! To say I liked the smoke feature is an understatement.
Trainmstr: When did you get your 1946 726 Smoke Bulb Berkshire? Was it purchased new around 1946? (It would be great to verify that the brushes are legitimate)
All the smoke bulb locomotives that I have owned over the years did not come with that brush, including one that was handed down to me by a relative, and included all the individual boxes, paperwork, and a plastic container of the original pellets (decomposed).
I have a few of the brushes, purchased on EBay.
I would have to look again to be certain, but I do not recall there being any mention of the brush in Lionel's instructions, catalog, or service manual.
When those brushes first started showing up on EBay, there was a rumor that they came from Madison Hardware. I guess that could be so. There is always the possibility that Lionel had them made, and decided not to include them with the locos.
It is a legitimate part. I have see those available as far back as the early '70's.
I got my Berkshire in 1953, like I said mine had a smoke pellet unit. The brush handle is an ivory color with black bristles.
