Anyone have an opinion or experience using the smoke pellet scented smoke fluid from JT Megasteam? I have used many of JT's other scents and they are terrific. Recently I have rediscovered the joy of running post war steamers and would like to duplicate the original scent to go along with the smell of ozone and sounds of the old engines.

I purchased a new bottle of reproduction smoke pellets while at York.  In trying them out on my PW 773, the smoke had the nostalgic smell but the output wasn’t great. However, I added 3-4 drops of JT’s Smoke Pellet fluid on top of the pellet and it made a significant difference.  I had good output and that good ol’ smell I remember as a kid.

Ekaz it is a machine that emits a imitation fog on a clubs dance floor. Also used in the movie,tv industry for special effects. Mine included a bottle of fluid with no markings of ingredients. Should be able to google Edmunds Scientific co.for refills. I use straight mineral oil now, (unscented) when my son borrowed my machine and emptied the bottle. Its also very close to that aroma we all love and smoke output is exceptional

Thanks guys for the replies. Rob, do the smoke pellets leave a residue that builds up in the smoke unit and who makes them? I have an old bottle of K Line smoke pellets that smell pretty close to what I remember the smell to be like. They seem to leave a residue. The Megasteam is clean as a whistle. I might even have some of the original pellets and, if I can find them, will try them out to re-acclimate my nose to the wonderful scent of yesteryear.

Hi Ed, check with some of the forum sponsors for the smoke pellets as Rob notes with Trainz.  The pellets do leave a residue when only using them.  However in adding a few drops of the Megasteam smoke pellet smoke fluid, I’m not seeing the residue forming.
