Maint,

Unfortunately I have not been able to attend for many years, York falls right in the middle of my busy work schedule, both in the spring and fall, teaching fly fishing in the spring and training Grouse dogs in the fall.  It's been a bummer and someday I hope to be able to attend once again, but it is not going to be for a while yet.

After reading some of the threads on here, I really wanted to go, and even told the boss I might take a day or two off. However, when push came to shove, I decided it would be best to wait until fall. That way I have time to build up a significant cash pile. I don't want to drive 3 hours each way, then have to watch every penny while I'm there.

Besides, as mentioned above, it is Little League season, and I have an 11 year old and a 14 year old to cheer for.

Not me, for a few reasons:

1. It's ridiculously far from me in the Pacific Northwest (the internet says that it'd be a 40+ hour, non-stop drive and just shy of 2800 miles)

2. I don't do 3-rail at all

3. I get so little time off (I get a decent amount of time for annual vacation but most requests for time off are denied as my employer is crazy understaffed as a permanent thing) I can't get to do much of anything. This year, I couldn't even make my annual pilgrimage to Huntsville to do the 'astronaut' thing at Space Camp (my website link explains that) or attend the NMRA convention which is just an hour and a half away from my home this year.

But really, condition # 2 is why you probably will never see me there.

I had planned to go with another TCA member, however, his wife put her foot down and said he could not go.....Well, its a long drive from Tennessee, so, we will try to slip in the October Meet.... Its the best Train Meet in the USA....More Trains and related items than any place that I have ever been.  EVEN IF you do not purchase anything, The People are what its all about, the Education is free, the Scenery is Great, and its all FUN. York is a One of a Kind Experience. Happy Railroading...

Ditto.......

Plus too many years of attending plastic model shows.......100's of them over the last 45 years.......ZERO shows required membership and the most costly show I ever went to was $10 entry........creature of habit....can't get excited. If I went....I'd be to meet folks.
