The screw method I think was more for Atlas track due to the difficulty of soldering wire to it.  As RJR posted, the male spade blade wire connector seems to be a preferred method for Gargraves track.  You push it up into the formed rail from the bottom.

I used the spade plugs for my Ross track.  Very easy, bend to a 90 degree angle, push them in.

 

I use a Dremel to clean the base of for wire to be soldered on each section of GG.  Poke a little void for the wire lead, thread the wire into the hollow,  solder & then drop the leads to a buss or star pattern.

I believe what you may be referring to however is GG part #911 and #912  ($1.50 Nick Smith)  which stab into the slit from the bottom with a Fahnstock clip.
