Springs for Lionel Rotery Coal Dumper

Did you try  Lionel? My apologies if you have already.

If you're referring to the 32910 Rotary Coal Tipple I don't see any springs.

If you're referring to the postwar 397 or  repro 14156 Diesel operating Coal Loader, it would be helpful to know which coal loader.  Is this the spring you're looking for?

I am talking about the 32910. The pictures from your linked site do not show the springs. Looking at the picture labeled: "The alligator clip acts as heat sink when soldering bypass wire", just to the right of the alligator clip is a dark gray plastic latch mechanism. the latch mechanism has a return spring to pull the hook back down. These are the springs I need replaced.

Also, I have looked on the Lionel parts web site, it does not list these parts.

Give Bill Harrison at S&W Train Parts a call. He will often have parts that Lionel is out of. Go on the Lionel website and try to find the correct part number. S&W Train Parts phone is 518-280-5197. He also does excellent train repairs and he may be able to find  substitute springs if the original are unavailable. Lionel will not guarantee having any parts after two years following production. Go on S&W's website at S&W train parts for further info. They are located in Niskayuna, NY.

Howard, none of the many detailed photos I took of mine when it was in pieces shows the springs.   They must really be buried in the mechanism.  As far as I could find there has never been an exploded diagram for that tipple.

Hopefully you can fabricate replacements.
