A previously great running engine, an RK Hudson,30-1567-1, began to run erratically hesitating running rough. Track voltage is good all round and all other engines are operating normally with no problem. Upon inspection all connections are tight and appear in good shape, including the tender/cab tether. Does anyone have any ideas that might help.

I would pull the engine shell and check the speed sensor is in place and not rubbing the tach strip.

Still sputtering. All connections seem good. Speed sensor and tach tape all in fine shape. Strange doings however. It runs fine in reverse with boiler shell on. Runs fine in both directions with shell off. Any ideas anyone.
Still sounds like it might be the soldered connections for the tether inside the tender.
