Hi OGR...  Does anyone know what happened to St Charles?  I placed a very large order or coal loads with them and they said they were moving could not fill the order for a long time and so I asked for my money back.  Not heard back and got no refund from them.

Does anyone know if I just lost a bunch of money, or if they are reputable?  The guy emailed me once and I asked for my money back, and has not replied to further emails and their phone on the website is not taking messages or picking up.  Its been almost two and a half months!

Thnks!

Bob same here. I placed a large order for coal loads almost a year ago. I spoke with them on the phone and was told that there was a sickness in the family and that my order would be filled.

soo... does this mean you still didnt get the loads???

They gave me a story about moving and will be setting back up in a month, but its been two and still not getting any replies back...  I am fine with waiting, just wondering if they took my money!

Bob. No I have not received anything from my order. My account shows that the order is still pending. I placed my order back in November 2019 and my credit card was charged the full amount of the order. Then like you after a couple of months nothing. I spoke and exchanged e-mails with them back in January and again in March both times given the family illness story. They assured me that my order would be filled.

I am pretty confident at this point that no coal loads will be coming in the mail.

St. Charles is not looking very reputable.

I hope you paid through PayPal I had to go through them to get my money back. This was over a year ago.

Yes I paid thru paypal...  I just wish they replied via email to let me know what is going on.  I had to request a refund thru paypal because it looks like this is a trend with them and i cant wait any longer...  I can wait a month or so, but a year?!  Then to not reply to any emails and not answer phone...

Thanks for your help...

I ordered 48 coal loads!  so it was a huge bill.  I paid in full.  I would wait the few weeks they said but it looks like it will be a lot longer based on you still not having loads!

ok, I have an update...  I Called the owner because he had a cell number at bottom of the first email.  Seemed like a nice guy just buried with a move and real work for other companies.  So he issued me a refund and he should have the coal load casting back going by first of 2021...  So I will reorder then as he should be able to make them...

Good news that they will be back in business, they made good looking loads for Atlas hoppers.

I refrained from comment because it’s been a while since I have spoken with Terry at St. Charles and I wasn’t sure what his current situation was. I’ve met Terry and his wife for dinner and my impression was he was another small business craftsman in our hobby trying to fill a specific niche. He was always polite and decent whenever we spoke.

That said I was very surprised by what I was reading here and had hoped for a satisfactory conclusion. I’m glad to see it seems to have had one. Thanks for the update.
