Never used the Evan Design kit, but have you considered using a similar style/themed gift wrapping or tissue paper if you're not looking to create a specific stained glass picture?  You can lightly sand the backside of the gift paper to allow more light to pass through and mount the paper to clear plastic sheets or leftover clear plastic clamshell packaging that can be attached to the inside of your structure and then backlit.  Also there are free or low cost computer/tablet/smart phone stained glass photo filter apps that will create a stained glass effect to a normal picture file.  You can convert your picture scene, print then again lightly sand the backside to thin the paper to allow more light through as above.
