I have used Scaletrax for permanent mounted track on structure ramps, etc., but

have thought it hard to work with and keep joined, and also a pain to mate with other brands if you need a special radius or double crossover, etc.  I far and away prefer its lower profile as to appearance over any other available for three rail (except for maybe laying your own with scale rail) but I have wondered about flanges..will everything you might be running on this track through switches, crossings, etc., with no problems?  I would think everything from MTH would track through it...

I had thought to start with a branch, that could be operated as an entity, and operated by switching, completing it as a learning mode, track, scenery, structures and then build from the main line junction after I got the bugs out of the small beginning.  This would permit a relatively small initial investment, too.

My biggest obstacle is that I haven't wanted to get into all the carpentry.

Well, while contemplating a section with a switch of Scaletrax, I happened to pick up

a car with scale trucks, good metal, well sprung arch bars (that I plan to convert to three rail trucks or maybe just the wheel sets) and hand pushed it around....to my surprise it tracked very well on the flat rails of Scaletrax.

So I wonder if people are running O scale trucked rolling stock on it without problems, those that have converted to Kadees, or whatever?
