Speaking of the original Premier 5v Dreyfuss Hudson and FEF Northern from same era, can I simply drop in the 3v PS2 board as a replacement for a blown 5v board in each?

I have a few good 3v boards I can use.

I'm hoping to be able to simply drop the 3v board in the 5v boards place (inside the boilers, not the tenders) and convert the connectors to the 3v molex plug in style instead of the 5v (or is there a kit for this?).

How is this done? / Can this be done? ...Or is a PS3 "Upgrade kit" in order?? I'd like to avoid spending the money on PS3 and just keep them PS2 3v with what I have available.

yes you can install the ps2 3 volt  board in place of the 5 volt board  and connectors as you have said but also have to change the 8.4 volt battery to a 2.4 volt blue battery, and replace the 16 ohm  speaker to a 4 ohm speaker and install a ps2 3 volt sound file.

if your not sure how to do it I can do it for you!

When you go to pull the connector bodies off the board, a little heat helps loosen them up a lot.  I use my hot air tool with a small nozzle to warm them up, makes it much easier to get them off.  Note that you have to be CAREFUL with the replacement board removing the white connector bodies or you'll damage the board.  Other than that, as noted, change the speaker and the charging harness.
