You are lucky.  There are something like 126 parts in each tender truck, and they were prone to short-circuits.  I did some work on these, but could not see myself tackling the trucks.  Jim found a guy in the Midwest who worked for six bucks an hour, and he fixed them.  My rate at the time was $50/hr.

I agree - these are elegant models.  Sunset made them for a different market, and for a lower price.  Sunset did an exceptional job.

Bob, shhhh don't tell anyone, but the tender is Sunset.... The engine came without a tender, I just threw some stuff at it LOL

I have Scott's 50's version... hence the tender.... Very nice model... I set up the decoder to work with both models

too bad the tender doesn't depict the augmented capacity noticeable by the small "step" after the top curvature... It's ok I can live with that!

Absolute stellar may be an understatement in the case..... beautiful locomotive!

I acquired 3rd Rail's spoke wheels versions a while ago. Very well done for the price.

After a few tweaks 3rd Rail's version runs just as well as the PSC.

That layout is also very well done for the price.  It makes a background worthy of your models.

You will love the Sunset if those PSC tender trucks ever short out.

Doing some work on the 3rd Rail Hudson whilst I wait for the decoder... The tender needs the most work... whoever researched this project for Scott wasn't very thorough
