Good Morning Everyone,

I will start out with a model I am constructing for one of my customers. It is based on a picture of a kitbashed building on Norm CS layout. Here are a few pictures of the construction. Let's see what you have been working on. 20200215_13544920200216_06525920200216_065318

Looks good Alan.

I'm continuing on my machine shop build. I put the second coat on the lintels and sills and started on the windows.
I noticed that the building looked short sitting next to the track on my bench so I put a car in front and the dock is about a 1/2" lower than the car door. I think it will be easier to raise the terrain for the building to sit on than adding to the foundation. Once I get it assembled and on the layout I will decide.

Pictures show nine buildings on the southwest corner of my 12’-by-8’ layout completed in 2004. I left no room for a town on this layout, so the best I could do was to build small and medium-size structures to give the impression of a town. This deficiency was remedied on my recent 10’-by-5’ layout, half of which is a town with three streets.

Making the diesel the way it should have been. Waiting on CNJ green paint to finish covering those hideous sill dash markings.

More unrealistic chipper crew sounds. They must really enjoy that dirty job…

On the MTH RS3 version, were those headlights glued in like the WBB/ Kline versions are?

Alan,

Very nice. Who produced the brick walls?

MELGAR

Its a combination of Lionel Municipal Buildings and Electrical Substations

Alan,

Maybe its just the photo angle, but did you have to add any bracing between the 3 sections of side walls to keep it all straight and square? Or did just gluing it up making it strong enough?

I have 3 of each of these kits to mess around with and make something out of, just havent decided what to do yet.  Between this version, Peter's Max Foods, and others there's lots of inspiration to work with on these kits.

No, the MTH  single lens pops out from the inside as shown. Exacto knife and hand drill bit will be needed to enlarge the hole. Cut and insert a round clear styrene piece after the housing is painted green. Will be done Wed.

I added 2 figures - RMT Walter in the cab. These improved 3's now have lighted # boards and smoke. Guess the cab figures were too costly to offer? LOL!

Some main grab irons and end steps had to painted yellow as well.  Oh MTH?

Beautiful work, as always!

The shame is that MTH doesn't make these in Premier class with Premier class features.  I would have bought one of these CNJ units, maybe two, but the price was too high for a second rate model needing all your modifications, plus 3RS modifications that you're not undertaking.  How many more units might have sold, with even greater profit margin, had this been a Premier unit?
