Looking good Mike! Did you mention earlier what kit this was? Your doing a super neat job.I have been looking at a few and havnt seen this one.Never mind i just realized which it was. Dont know how you got your hands on one of those! Lucky.

Fred,

Awesome and gettin better.
That reminds me of When i was in my 20s i chartered for King Salmon on Lake Ontario for 10 years. Them fish cleaning stations had a special aroma! Especially the dumpster. LOL

Mike, that project is coming out very nice! Great work. Is that scratch built or what type of kit?

Don, Nice shots of the layouts, I really like the Tobins plant.

Fred, simply spectacular, very nice craftsmanship.

Here are some shots of the Roundhouse I have been working on, I finally placed it on the layout and wired the track power.

I have also been working on this small factory. I have more painting to do, and perhaps add some brick work.

The sink was made from this:

Turned upside down, it's hollow, trimmed and sanded and painted aluminum.

I believe it was one of the K-line factory accessories.

The faucet is made from a ball-point pin, bits of styrene rod and tubing with some fibre optic thrown in for the handle.

Smile

Rich nice roundhouse.

LMS, love the interiors.
Bighorn Basin Oil Play Module

Started this module a week before Christmas...on the dining room table....*oops....So we ate on the floor
( dogs LOVED THAT!) till it dried...Thankfully I have a Very forgiving family! This is actually a cover for my layout access port, its Very light thanks to the base of blue foam and True Scene Modeling Fibre, which is Amazing stuff! I formed the area with the fibre and added local dirt, some trees, and added field grass with the Noch Grassmaster. Im modeling part of the Bighorn Basin oil fields in NE Wyo. I have a lot of detail work left on this so its a work in progress but has been fun!

My sincere Compliments to all of you who post on the Sunday Showcase, its my first stop on Sun. morning and your work is Always both Impressive and Inspiring!

Thanks all for the comments. Smile Cabin Creek Coal Tipple, BTS
Don: I really like all the detail, the pile of fire wood caught my eye. Smile
Fred: The CMU, concrete masonary unit is great, I've seen many a door held closed with these Smile
Rich: The turntable/Roundhouse is looking great. I like the backdrop. The factory looks very good also.
LMS lines: Excellent brick mortar and weathering on the building exterior. Smile The building interiors are also very well done. Smile
Robert Peirce: Your ground cover, color and vegitation is very realistic Smile
Moonson: That is quite a storage facility. Well done Smile
Dave: The Korber roundhouse has been taken to another level. Your roof detail is the way it should be, well done. Smile
Will: I should hope my coal tipple looks as realistic as yours. Smile

Hi Robert, Your modeling gives one the impression you know of what you speak; that is, it seems like you have been to such places, and gives me a ton of ideas.

I esp. like the way you executed the soil/groundcovers, as esp. apparent in this photo of yours.

Here are shots of a tank-farm (at least, as one appeared in my imagination) I composed for a little town called Louisville.

Seeing your handsome work, I've imagined it might be nice to see both our ideas crafted onto the same layout; perhaps, at opposite ends of the overall layout, w/ plenty of RR servicing in-between (!) Tweak anybody's imagination?

How's that for a little Sunday creative playin' around?

Moonson..
Well Thanks much for the compliment....its my first layout so I have a LOT to learn...and the forum has been a Great help...also folks like Joe from Model Structures,Joel Bragdon and his resin casting method, Bill from True Scene and hi magic modeling fibre...and so many others I follow on here....Your layout looks amazing and Id be honored to put my work near yours...the tank farm is so well detailed!

Thanks again!!
Great work everybody!

I've been working on this roundhouse off and on for a couple months now. I clamped some walls together tonight to see how everything is going to look. I stole Patrick's idea for pit rails and used TIG rod, strung tight, for the center rail. The interior walls will be lined with brick pattern on acrylic paper. The black portion of the roof will have workers rolling out tar paper. The rest will be mostly open.

Dave

Simply amazing work from everyone. I, too, lurk quietly in this scenery forum bein inspired and secretly envying everyone's beautiful work Smile

In the last year, my husband and I have built our table, laid down foam, painted it, laid down track -- after what seemed like an endless number of redesigns-- and now finally I am getting to do some scenery. I did one little hill on the corner of the layout-- it's a start at least. The rest of the time I have been adding ballast. Man, it sure is a time consuming task but the more of it goes down the more I like it, especially now that there is a much bigger stretch ready. Hopefully soon I will put up some of my own pics to share.

LMS, did you find Grandtline windows that happened to fit the Walthers building or did you have to modify the openings? (interiors look terrific, btw).

Jerrman,

Sorry for the late reply. I actually used Tichy #2029 windows for the front windows. I modified them for masonery insertion and the tops of the windows were reshaped using strip styrene. The double hung windows on the side and back walls were scratch built. Thanks for the interest.
