Hi all, great projects from everyone! Summertime projects have really taken a toll on my modeling activities but I have managed to get a couple of projects wrapped up.

Here is an MTH bay window caboose that I modified to represent Union RR caboose #104. I posted in-progress shots of it several months ago and I'm glad it's finished (except for a little additional weathering on the ends and trucks).

Also completed were these scratch built Union RR slab cars. I built styrene masters for some of the parts, made molds, and cast multiple parts in resin. I'm not a production caster so the tolerances on some of the parts were all over the place. Needless to say, there was a lot of scraping and sanding. Custom decals were printed by Highball Graphics and the cars were weathered with pan pastels. I'm far, far, far from proclaiming prototype accuracy for these but I think they represent the actual slab cars fairly well.

Wow! Joe, you sure captured Western Pa. The river hillside is great as are the foliage colors. Even the ballast is the correct shade.

Thanks Lew! The funny thing is I am primarily a Southern Railway modeler and that scenery is supposed to represent western North Carolina. Then Dave Minarik at Mercer Junction turned me on to the Union RR and now I'm rethinking the whole scope of my railroad! And I agree, I think the background and foliage colors will work for western Pennsylvania too!
