@Alan Graziano that launcher is incredible work.

@Putnam Division the roofing on the TW kit is coming along great. They make beautiful kits.

I recently picked up some old Walters Cornerstone building flats (933-2717 Building Set #2 Black Rock Beverage, City Litho.) Both seemed like great candidates for some detailing. City Litho is the first to get some work.

Besides the usual paint details I’ve added truck bumpers around the dock and microscope slide glass windows.

Lightly sponged acrylic paints provided a textured based for the brick and concrete.

Then I roughed up the metal doors.

Here’s post window install. Not the best photo, but the frosted window pane effect came out really well.

Also added were some wood bumpers around the truck loading dock.

Short term I plan to finish the exterior with details from @Todds Architectural Models and Evan Designs. Roof details, railings for the steps and small building signage will be the other final touches.

After that I plan a fully detailed machine shop interior. I’ll have to get creative with the narrow space, but these well sized windows provide some interesting possibilities.

Looks great Alex.

Peter the kit looks like it is coming out real nice. I built one of those switch towers from scratch once. I did a ton of sanding on the corners. The rooftop pictures are great. Seth, most of the water tanks in the city are made of wood and rest on steel frames. You can see that if you enlarge the pictures. We are steel guys and do not construct wood towers. Joe, Peter and Alex, thank you for the compliments on the launching pad. I did not construct the rocket. Enjoy building fellas.

@Alex W your building front, Windows, weathering, everything are great.  You’re the Man of many talents and ideas

I love the truck with the Lionel Advertisement.  Where would a fellow find such a truck?

A great June Day to all the Forum 😊

Thanks Seth!
The panel truck is one of my favorites. It is from Menards and has an interesting back story. It is based on a barn find in Washington State. It has lots of nice detail (model #2794222- still in stock on their website. )

Great work posted once again on this week's showcase.

Alex W- Very nice. Like many projects like this a great bit of the work is the masking. How did you create the frosted look on the windows?

Dave

Dave - the frosted windows are created by cutting small pieces of scotch tape. Just look for the type that isn’t advertised as being clear.
