In the middle of building a grain mill complex. I decided to go with a brick structure with more modern concrete storage bins and silos.

Joe, can I ask if you used electrical conduit pipe for the silos and what the size is? I have on my "list" a scratch built silo for cocoa beans for Hershey and the size you used looks perfect.

The silos are 2 inch diam ABS tubing from Plastruct. I have used 2.5 and 3 inch diam also. The tubing is somewhat expensive but compared to PVC piping I used to use in the past I am saving literally hours in cleaning off the lettering and sanding out scratches. Also I save the customer money on shipping since the PVC tubing was very heavy.
If you are building just for yourself you can save quite a bit of money by using the PVC piping which you can pick up at Home Depot / Lowes / ACE. Stick with the white piping. The black piping is even thicker and heavier. If you do mix the PVC with styrene caps or want to glue the silos together just be aware normal plastic cement won't work that well. You may have to go to CA or a product I used in the past called Liquid Fusion - believe it is a urethane glue.
