Several weeks ago I posted a photo of the new Lionel conventional Mogul and the new Williams Baldwin Ten-wheeler nose to nose. Someone commented they would look good with their tenders switched. I agreed - a lot better. Here is the result, both locos run as well as before with all electronics and hardware transfered one tender to the other (I left the speakers in the tenders they came in).

The Williams boards would not fit into the smaller Mogul tender so they are actually inside a scale reefer that connects by tether to the back of what is now the Baldwin's tender.





Why did I do this? First, I do think both locos look better this way, particularly the Baldwin (see Photo 2) which is just fantastic now. And the Mogul just was not quite right from day one. Hard to say it was "broken," but it was not a steady, smooth runner. I decided not to send it for repairs -- I'm just going to let it sit on a siding at my mountain train station and look good (it does that very well, even with the new tender).

Finally, I plan to bash the Williams loco, adding a new, more robust boiler, updating it from a 1890s design to a mid 1920s appearance, and adding a lot of detail. The Mogul tender will look even better with it once that is done.
