Happy Switcher Saturday everyone! I am honored to be pitch-hitting for Rich Murnane (MURNANE) as he is deep into all things related to his big housing move. So, we wish Rich and his family have an easy and uneventful move.

Today, I was debating what images to post and I came up with a few pictures of my once "basket case" (Lionel #227 prewar) steam switcher that was brought back to life with a little help from nice folks on this forum, like Harry Henning. I posted a whole separate "tinplate" topic on this locomotive several months ago. Yes, I still have not put the marker light posts on yet...but any day that may happen.

Here is last week's link if you missed it.

Rules, do we have rules? All you need is something that looks like a switcher and you are good to go.

Welcome to any newbies...don't be shy, jump right in.

Yay! SWSat is on!

This weekend I'm posting a few Switcher images. I have a few Camelback switchers, a Boxcab and a 19th century switcher. I'll be back later with some more pics of my adventures this week.

The first two are Lehigh Valley. The Camelback was on display at the 1934 Progress exhibition in Chicago.

These next are NYO&W.

This last image is particularly striking. I really like the balanced double sand domes for traction moving both forward and back. The cab mounted reverse headlight is great too.

Have a great weekend guys.

Good morning fellow SSWAT fans!!  Thanks Tom for pinch hitting for Rich!  I hope the move related activity is going well for you and your family Rich!  Great photos and info everyone!!

Silver Lake - I love the photo of the old 0-4-0 with the 'sand domes' you mentioned in your original post.   I have never seen an O-4-O as old as this before.  I know that the first yard switchers were horses.  I wonder what the first yard switching locos looked like and I wonder if your photo is an image of  one of the first steam switchers?  Since the loco has large diameter drivers, I just wonder if this  photo is an early yard switcher before railroads figured out that smaller diameter drivers would bring about improved traction for heavy train moves at low speeds?  Just thinking out loud.  Obviously this photo stirs up lots of questions.  Thanks for posting!

I've had no time to take fresh photos of switcher action on the Free State Junction Railway.   Work has syphoned all my time away from the railroad.  That will change soon with more time being devoted to the railroad.  Today I have some more re-runs.   Have a creatively fun week everyone!!!BL2 Brakeman Switchers left and rightDocksider coming atchaSitcher SW 1000 & caboose MA&PA

Excellent pictures everyone

A special mention for these folks:

Andy/SILVER LAKE- Nice pictures, especially the "Old & Weary" locomotive with the slope-back tender.

SIRT- Your modeling is great once again.

BAR GP7 #63- Excellent use of working in nature with your train. Is that a diorama that you can carry outside (as opposed to bringing the river inside)? Very nice.

Dave/ STEAMER- I never noticed that the B&O had slope-back tenders.

Patrick/TRUMPTRAIN- Yes, I know the feeling when work interferes with trains!
