It's #SwitcherSaturday Time!!!!

Lots of us out there love switchers (shifters, docksiders, yard goats, critters, etc.), so lets keep #SwitcherSaturday (a.k.a. SWSAT) rolling!

This week on the Ri.C.H. (Richmond, Chesapeake, Hudson) RR - we have our PRR #8977 (B6, Lionel 6-18000) switcher on duty.
Someone posted a thread this week asking if he should buy one, I said "Yes"!

Nice engine Rich!

Pictured below is my Atlas O model of Conrail SW8 diesel switcher #8606 with K-Line Conrail extended vision caboose #22131. I really like consists of just an engine and caboose. Conrail #8606 was originally built for the New York Central Railroad in February 1952 and ran on Penn Central before becoming Conrail 8606 in 1976 and being retired in 1991.

The Electro-Motive Division of General Motors produced 309 SW8 locomotives for U.S. railroads between 1950 and 1954. They were equipped with an EMD 567B 8-cylinder supercharged two-stroke diesel engine which developed 800 horsepower.

Happy SWSat Everyone!

Rich- that B-6 is on my list for sure (problem is my list keeps getting longer )

Brian- great photos as usual. Especially the BL-2's

Dave and Melgar- great photos.

This week as promised I received my RMT Beep- PRR 7004 in the Pennsy green paint scheme. I have some matching MPC era coaches that look great with it but for today I put out my K-line Yuengling coaches behind her. America's oldest brewery with one of America's oldest railroads.

Everyone enjoy your weekend and the great weather if you are in the Northeast.

It's Saturday - and the Minuteman has arrived....

I have been looking for an NW-2 to add to my fleet. I originally wanted a Pennsy NW, and there were a couple available but I waited too long to pull the trigger and they disappeared.  Came across this on Patrick's Trains and he had a matching cab car to boot. I figured B&M would play nicely with my NYC fleet and so it goes.

Happy Switcher Saturday!! Great photos of real and model switcher's everyone!!

Here's some photo of my Patapsco and Back Rivers VO 1000, with PBR gondolas, going about daily business.  The PBR was a switching railroad, operating within and around the sprawling Bethlehem Steel Mill and ship building complex in Sparrows Point,Md. just outside Baltimore. It was owned by Bethlehem Steel Corp.  It's entire locomotive fleet was comprised of switchers. The PBR performed all of the switching work within the plant.  Most of it's freight car fleet was gondolas.  The employees of the PBR nic named the railroad the Push  Bump and Ram  There was a wonderfully informative book written about this railroad which I've read, but the title escapes me at this moment.  Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!IMG_2257IMG_2264IMG_2263IMG_2266IMG_2256IMG_2267IMG_2269IMG_2268IMG_2270

Yay! SWSat is On!

Nice start so far guys.

I have some late night at the roundhouse pics from the NYSME layout. There is a FM yard goat that got the cold shoulder left outside the inn treatment.

I sometimes walk around the South Bronx and got some pics of a Metro North Burro work Crane from the 149st bridge over what was the NYCentral Mott Haven Yard. Next to the tower inside the Wye. I took these about two weeks ago and it is hard to believe that yesterday it was 80 degrees here

Have a great weekend guys.

    BNSF #3505  backs around #4449...

broke down on it's way out of the yard...

3505 then pulls forward and couples onto the rear, and tows # 4449,

back to the engine shop to be serviced...

Have a great weekend guys.

Andy - I'm all eyes whenever I ride Metro-North into The City and pass Mott Haven. Always reminds me of the New York Central RR.

Thanks also to RSJB18, CPOWELL and Tom Densel for your mentions.

MELGAR

Hey @briansilvermustang - as usual, you are a great source of cool pictures! Thanks for sharing all of them, it's always fun to see what you'll throw out there on SWSAT!

@MELGAR - Thank you! I also like running just a switcher and a caboose, I was running a docksider with two cabeese (?) the other day. I like that Conrail combo, the color is really nice and those Atlas O's are great engines.

@Steamer Dave - you also have the knack for pulling neat pictures out of the archives every week, thanks as always!

@RSJB18 - That BL-2 is on my list, what a coincidence! Though I like the Beeps, I haven't jumped on one yet, maybe someday if I see one at a show for cheap. Thanks again for posting!

@DaveP - That B&M NW-2 is awesome, I love the stripes like that. Great stuff - thanks for sending our way!

@CPowell - Looking good Charlie, I hope all is well and I'll reach out to you later this week, thanks for posting!

@TrumpTrain Patrick - I saw one of those Patapsco and Back Rivers VO 1000 engines somewhere recently and thought of you, as always your pictures are a ton of fun, thanks for posting them!

@TOM DENSEL - That PC Switcher looks sharp, heck that picture really looks like a real picture, great job and thanks for posting!

@Silver Lake - Hey Andy, it looks like that club layout is fun, I really like that first picture a bunch, great job. Also, that crane looks like a real workhorse, thanks for posting the pictures!

@Bar GP7 #63 - Johan, once again you amaze us, really incredible detail and colors and everything, I'm so blown away each week by your pictures, it's really a treasure to have you post them, thank you very much!

@RayKay - Man, I love those little Lione 0-4-0 engines, great picture and thank you for posting!

@TedW - I love the night theme, great picture as it kept me zooming in and peeking at it, thank you very much!

@MNCW - Hey Tom, I thought maybe you slept late today! Congrats on your article - I'll see if I can pick up a copy or two of that Keystone, thanks for posting!

@TNKMARX - Two more Atlas O diesel switchers working hard in a yard, great stuff and thanks for posting!

@Bill T - is that a real live "Yard Goat" in your yard???? That's awesome, great fun - thanks as always for posting!

@ctr - that's awesome, I love when people do look-alike type of pictures!  Thanks for posting!

For some reason my browser session isn't letting me do all the @ mentions for you guys, sorry about that - anyway, have a great evening and rest of your weekend and see you next Saturday!
