I saw this on FaceBook the other day, thought it too good not to grab and share here.

Continuing with Rich's great picture showing New York Central switcher #7719:

New York Central #415 is a scale USRA 0-8-0 steam switcher designed in 1918 – 100 years ago! 1375 0-8-0 switchers were built to this design – more than to any other single locomotive design. The model was made by MTH with PS1.

Finally the weather here is relenting and the heat has gone down. This week I soda blasted and put a primer coat on part of my C-16. 

I am pretty happy with how things are looking. I only painted the top half because the rust was bothering me and the is a lot to change on the frame.  I have a new motor on order.

Hope everyone had a safe 4th. The heat wave has finally ended here in the northeast. Time to give the AC a rest.

Great photos everyone. I've heard of the legend of the very rare Albino C-16. Didn't think it was true till now........

Tom- I just saw a documentary the other day that included film of Truman making that speech. Too bad I can't remember the name of the show.

This week I went to the eye doctor and I'm back to seeing one switcher at a time...but the doctor said I could relapse at any time... (stay tuned ) 

New Haven #115 by WbB, is spotting a couple of box cars on Team Track # 1.

It's his own special prescription. He said it's made with C-16 boiler condensate

Brian - very nice photos of N&W switchers!  I was poking around Schaeffer's Crossing in Roanoke, Va. yesterday as I stopped off there on my way back from NC.    I saw some interesting MOW equipment/locomotives.  I will try to get back here today and post some photos.  

Tom- thanks for the information regarding the Truman speech! That's certainly an insightful back story and context for the 1946 photograph Rich posted.

Andy -  your C - 16 looks terrific!  As it is, it could pull your railroads' annual Halloween train " The Gray Ghost ".  All kidding aside, I look forward to seeing your C-16 evolve as you masterfully take it through the stages.  Great job!!

RSJB - Good to see your Williams 44 tonner at work doing what switchers do best.... switching!!

For today - Here are some switchers both real and model.  The real loco photos were taken at the Baltimore and Ohio Museum in Baltimore and of course the models are ones that traverse my layout.  The B&A number 50 is a GE 70 tonner.  The model B&A is a MTH SW 9 of which, evidently, the B&A did own at one time.  The Patapsco and Back Rivers ( a Bethlehem Steel road ) is a VO 1000 ( I think?? ) and the model is an MTH VO 1000.   I hope MTH makes a B&A 70 tonner!  I will be first in line to buy one!!  Have a great weekend everyone!!

Found one in the wild just a few minutes ago.

Here is my re-purposed S2 pushing a couple of local CN cars on the OH&UP, with an extra caboose at the end.

Andy.: What a beautiful locomotive with a excellent scenery. C-16 would be also nice get to SBR layout.

Charlie, Thank you!!  The PS2 version looks great!  I knew Brian had some Western Maryland RS engines.  Looks like the one at the B&O museum could stand a new coat of paint!!

My hometown too.(I would consider Culpepper VA or the Popes Creek area to be Washington’s hometown)  Alexandria was home to Potomac Yard what was one of the the biggest yards on the east coast. 

Also fitting to your post has an Art Center I used to work at as a teenager called the Torpedo Factory.

Just looking back over posts. This Coil car is very short for a modern car. It looks shorter than the GP. The ladders also look like they extend back behind the main body of the car. Maybe it is the foreshortened angle but I don't know that I have seen this before.

I'm glad it isn't serious!  Thank you on the ALCo.  Yes, something does look vaguely familiar here!!
