Good morning everyone and welcome to another Edition of Switcher Saturday.   Here we celebrate the little locomotives that do big things.   Whether it's a yard goat,  a dinky, a road switcher, if it's a locomotive used to knock cars around,  spot loads at customers, make and break trains in the yard, we celebrate it here.

Switcher Saturday is always open to all scales and gauges,  with of course a heavy helping of 3 rail O gauge.

For today's lead off we have a K-Line Plymouth with load no one wants to talk about!

So please share your Switcher pictures and stories here.   Have a great weekend everyone!

Photos and videos show my MTH Premier New York Central USRA 0-6-0 #231 steam switcher locomotive with PS2 and a BCR2. I purchased it in 2008 and run it conventionally. It is a small engine that is just the right size for my single-track 10’-by-5’ layout. I use it to pull short freight trains at slow speed, in this case with a New York Central bobber wood caboose.

Yay! SWSat is on track and it is time for my once a week check in with my SWSat friends. I see we are off to a great start this week with a good variety and no theme besides switching that I can detect.

This week I am posting some shots of one of my side tank 2-6-2ST switchers. These were imported in the 50/60s in 2 rail O scale by several importers. I have two that have completely different drive mechanisms. I believe they were KMT but I have a KMT one and a LBM models one. The bodies are identical. Eventually they will be reworked into something else. If nothing else I want to put new stacks on them because the ones on them are too cartoony for me.

I hope everyone is well. Have a great weekend. I can’t wait to see what you guys post.

Happy switcher Saturday to all! There's nothing wrong with a little Plymouth on your layout.  Call it fun sized,  packing a lot of energy and smoke into a handy package.

Plymouth switcher

We just took delivery of a new switcher on the layout.  It's a  Lionel  Lionchief + 2.0 0-6-0 tank with Bluetooth. Here we have it next to my first 0-6-0 ala  Promontory Point  style. Looks like she'll be destined for some weathering  to bring her in to the fold.

Enjoy and have fun.

Sweeet Melgear!  When I saw your story on Bobber Car maker over, I fell in love with the little guys. What it CAN be, all gussied up. My 5 year old grand son/engineer opened my first bobber purchase, looked at it, then quietly said to grandma: "This is a caboose for little babies toy train, Nina, it's not for us." HA. From the mouths of babes. It has been on the workbench ever since.

thank Mel <salute>

Good morning fellow switcher fans!   Great content everyone! Love it!  Today on the FSJR the company photographer has been busy all this past week photographing the switching fleet hard at work.  Have a wonderful weekend everyone!  Be safe = Be well!!

A better view of ‘Main Street’ ... garbage truck was custom by me - a Newray trash body and an Athearn Ford C-cab. My uncle drove one similar for the borough back in the day - his was faded lemon-yellow.

TALES OF THE DOCKSIDER

Switcher double header!  This Saturday shop switcher X-8688 is paired with NYC 0-4-0 no. 901 on a transfer run from the NH yard in Worcester to the B&M yard via B&A/NYC trackage.  This train has another load of military vehicles to be delivered to Fort Devens on the B&M Ayer branch.

A B&M commuter job is passing on the adjacent track powered by RS-3 no. 1509.  This train will travel up the Gardner branch to Keene, NH.

Here’s hoping all you SWSAT aficionados are well and getting vaccinated.  I got my first shot last week and I can’t wait to have my grandson over to run trains!

Hellow SwSat folks, well along with 3rd Rail, the Leonardtown and Savannah took delivery of a new Lionel 0-6-0, lionchief 2.0 switcher recently.  She is just doing well and getting broken in.  I really like the sound and smoke.  So here is a picture of her in charge of a mid day commuter / shopper local from Small Town to Savannah.

Lionel Steam Switcher

Have a great weekend everyone.  Hey "Steam Crazy" I am with you on staying healthy, my wife and I finally got our first shots yesterday, after waiting nearly 60 days to be scheduled (and we are both Phase !b).  So things are certainly looking up !!
