MELGAR, my two MTH RS3s sound similar, but not exactly the same as my RS1.  The RS3s don’t have the initial long “running on one cylinder” sound or the “whistle” (probably the turbocharger on the prototype) at idle and when accelerating.  The first time I started the RS1, I thought the sound system was bad!

When I was a kid a “couple” of years ago, I used to see an Alco S4 operated by the Grafton and Upton RR.  It had the “whistle”.  Every time I run the RS1, it reminds me of my youth!

I had the opportunity to run an Alco S1 for a little while at a tourist line.  It always sounds a little broken, even when its not!

600 hp from an inline 6, with cylinder bores you could drop a pumpkin in🎃😃! Cab heaters that only worked after the engine warmed up - which was not fast!  The smoke on a cold start looked like a brush fire.  Once warmed up though, a reliable machine that did what it was asked.  The air slide throttle was always a unique experience. There's only one click, and you have to listen for it, after that you have an variable throttle like a gas pedal,  not an 8 position set up like the GP machines.

The view out the back was great.  What I did not like was that the fuel tank was directly under the cab.

I  have good memories of running it, maybe I need a model just to remember the sound!
