Good morning fellow forumites, and welcome to another Switcher Saturday 🙂👏.

This weekly thread celebrates all things surrounding Switcher Locomotives.   A Berkshire, Big Boy,  Centennial, or Ace unit may be the ticket for big freight drags or premier long distance passenger service, but for most railroad deliveries, it's the smaller lokies that get it done.

So please share an image or video of your favorite Switcher(s).

Switcher Saturday is always open to all scales and gauges.   Just make sure the pictures are yours or things you have permission to share here.

Here we see a lionel 4 wheel diesel still earning its keep late in life as a tourist train hauler.

Have a great day everybody,  (and just a hint - Mother's Day is tomorrow!)

Happy SWSat!

I was just about to start the thread for you @jhz563. Glad I checked before posting.

Here's the latest addition to the fleet. Williams PRR 44 ton # 9331.

Been wanting one of these for a while and Trainland is running a great deal right now so I decided to take the plunge finally.

I post some more photos on the layout later.

Have a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all the moms.

Bob

Congratulations on your new 44 tonner Bob!  I have the same switcher in Pennsy livery and also bought it from Trainland several years ago.  It's one of the locomotives primarily assigned to the FSJR Mountain Division.   It continues to run great and I've never had a problem with it.  Do BE CAREFUL in handling this critter for the handrails are most delicate and break easily.  Have fun and enjoy!!

TALES OF THE DOCKSIDER

Your Yardmaster got an earful of words he can’t post about shop switcher X-8688 and her crew getting another Saturday off, so she is on duty today switching the scrap yard.  Towering over X-8688 is a venerable Lionel 282R Gantry Crane, which has run reliably since 1958.

I’m sure there will be dissenters out there, but - in my opinion- the crane is the greatest accessory ever produced by Lionel.  Not only is it interesting to watch, it takes some practice and skill to manipulate the operating levers and run it smoothly.  I find it far more satisfying than just pushing a button.

I’m enjoying all your posts as usual and hope you guys will be able to spend a nice day with Mom tomorrow!

John

Hello SwSat Fans...bit late in the day for my posting, but too much activity today to get it much earlier.  Hope everyone is ready for Mother's Day tomorrow.

First, lots of folks have talked about these Williams 44 tonners, so here is another one, working Small Town loop on the Leonardtown and Savannah, with a refer full of Blue Bell Ice Cream !  I agree with everyone else these are great little engines especially on tight radius trackage.

Southern 44 Ton GE and Blue Bell box

Then, we have a problem down on the Savannah Wharf.  Seems like the Army and the Air Force can't decide who has the right of way...the MP's are not going to be much help sorting that out but they will keep the crews separated until the dispatcher gets it fixed .

Switcher scene

Well Happy SwSat everyone...Best wishes to all on Mother's Day!

Patrick I doubt that I have been seeing your photos and naratives as long as many of the forumites , but I have totally enjoyed them . 🤓

If you have documented them , I think the collection would make quite a great model railroading book. 😉
