Hello again Switcher Saturday faithful!  As usual this is our weekly gathering of those who can appreciate smaller locomotives that do big things.   If you can respect that an A-5 is just as important as an Allegheny,  that a GP7 was more versatile than a Century unit, or just generally get a kick out of little locomotives.  You found the right place.

The guidelines of Switcher Saturday are simple.

- everyone plays nice

- all switchers are fair game.  Any scale or gauge works, with an obvious heavy dose of 3 rail o gauge.   Diminutive yard critters, docksiders, saddle tankers, porters,  vulcans, to emd, alco and giant road switchers, its all good.

- everyone follows the ogr terms of service regarding pictures

- have fun !!

Have a safe and happy SWSAT!

Its getting to be that time of year when the Sun low in the Winter sky peeps in the train-room window and highlights what goes on there. Yesterday afternoon the camera lens caught #1545 hard at work:

It is also that time of year when more time is spent in the train-room....in front of the little electric heater that takes the Winter chill off:

More time spent indoors means more time for....Switching! To that end the Fiddle Yard has been streamlined with the use of [paper] switch-lists instead of several separate trains being staged. Instead of 5 consists there are [currently] 10 switch-lists in play:

Depending on those switch-lists and the pick-ups of the day consists vary from three to eight (rarely) cars:

On the PER we only do what is fun and recent assessment found that passenger operations were too simple and....boring, so it has been dropped. The Northwest track switch and the stub siding where the Dinner Train was always spotted has been torn up. My helper's other favorite venue is the futon:

Happy HallowSWSat!

Thanks for getting us started Lew. Since passenger service has been suspended, there's more real estate for another industry. Any plans?
Ray- Christmas came yearly! NICE! The 622 is an able substitute
Fendermain- another great 622
@tnkMarx Spooky consist. Fun Fact- For the first time since "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" was released, it was not shown on broadcast TV this year. GOOD GRIEF!
Steve- Very nice work.

This week NYC 0-4-0 # 9998 was spotting a couple of cars at the electrical supply. Please excuse the crew for missing the spot. They were running the throttle and shooting the video at the same time.

Happy SWSat this Halloween Saturday.

Lew, is your dog a Cocker  Spaniel?  We had one in buff that had a similar curly coat.

Tnkmarx, did someone leave the boxcar door open by mistake and the candy "fell off the train" ? If that happened on the Southside of Chicago it would have been flat screen tv's instead of candy.

Here are a few pictures of AC powered full sized switchers.

I joined the K-Line Collectors Club just to get this locomotive.  I got it for my kids, actually.  While I don't run conventional anymore, I felt compelled to dig this one out today.  Shortly after I received it, it stopped running.  I took it to Davis Trains in Milford, Ohio to see if they could fix it for me.  This is when I met Jim Barrett.  He took the locomotive back into the workshop while I looked around.  In short order he returned it to me with a big smile on his face and told me there was no charge...warranty work.  He spent quite a bit of time demonstrating the "new" DCS system and answering the many questions that popped into my head.  I could tell he thoroughly enjoyed what he was doing. This was the only time I met Jim, but he made quite an impression on me.  RIP, Jim.

Juice Jacks! Can't see enough of them.

Bill, Buffy is half Cocker Spaniel, the other half being Poodle. We are both allergic to....dog, so needed a Poodle mix to largely eliminate the fur-shedding. The downside is that we have to cut her hair about every six weeks. She recognizes "cousins" and  always approaches Cocker Spaniels with her tail madly wagging.

Good morning fellow switcher fans!  Lew - thanks for notching out the the throttle and getting us rolling this morning   Looks like the Plywood Empire Route has a busy day of switching!

Great photos and videos everyone!

Breathtaking color, Patrick.

Good eye @coach joe - here's the old track plan, I spent time "stretching" it last Christmas/New-Years holiday season, it's now 1 foot wider and 4 foot longer, I need to do a new track plan one of these days.

A "the whole shebang" picture, don't mind the messy workbench on the left.

And.... Pepper the Cockapoo says "hi" to all the Cockapoo fans on the thread, as she inspects a Lionel 0-4-0 that isn't located on tracks for some reason.
