I'm not familiar with the Orient Express set. Anyone have pictures?
Steve
Sounds like they only made 8 of them, so I doubt anyone would be willing to sell.

Thanks for refreshing my memory. Wish I had the $$$$ at the time.

That's a spectacular looking set! Hope you find one for sale.

I went back and looked at the thread Art started. I can see the appeal of this train to a well-heeled TCA member with an interested wife. (If this is coming off as sexist, I apologize in advance) The color is unusual in tinplate- dare I say pretty? And Agatha Christie is a great favorite among avid readers- I count my other half in that group. She devours it.
This was part of MTH's last run of tinplate 400E passenger sets back in 2018-19. MTH made several limited sets that could be ordered through his dealers. However, this special run of 8 only was offered only through the TCA and you had to enter a raffle to win the chance to buy one of the 8 sets. Since they have come out I have never seen one put up for sale.

Being sold as a lottery I would imagine a few were sold on speculation. I think they will sell for way above MSRP in the near future.
Gentlemen: Start your wallets! LOL!
I vaguely recall this - it seems that TCA would have been required to name the winners, since it was a raffle. If someone is interested (not me) and they are a TCA member, perhaps they could find the list of winners and start contacting them with an offer to buy.
It is possible those owners might wish to remain anonymous for having acquired such a set.

I don't recall whether or not TCA charged for entering the raffle. IANAL, but if they charged money, it seems that they would be required to disclose the names of the winners, at least to other TCA members.

No there was no money involved. It wasn't a raffle in the legal definition.

Thanks for the clarification.
I was actually trying to imply a lame joke that the owners would rather be anonymous than embarrassed! LOL!

No one that has one of these 8 sets is embarrassed. These sets are highly prized by those that have them and those that want them.

Stu: I taught English and literature at both the university level and in high schools for twenty-five years and yet would always leave the second "s" out of embarrassed! LOL!
The main reason it is valued is that it was an extremely limited, cobbled together set from remaining MTH inventory, and as attractive as the livery is, it remains an absurd fantasy with NO relation to the actual, iconic European train. I rest my case.
PS: I do hope the OP is able to find a seller! :-)
I am also in the market for this set and I have heard nothing about potential sales.

Thank you for clarifying this. I remember seeing these and the others in the catalog. I still lust for these. As a note I was introduced to Sidetrack Hobbies because of these gems. Al has more than satisfied my need for pretty modern standard tinplate. Well almost.
Much thanks for the enthusiastic response for my quest for a MTH Orient Express. Like many if you I had the pleasure to take the Venice Simpson Orient Express from Rome. It’s pure nostalgia that I seek thus set not for accuracy or scale. This will be added to my Gauge 1 Orient Express sets from Fulgurex, Aster,Marklin J&M trains etc.
on the hunt.
