It's going to be a big day at the Everett Team Track & Community Park. Despite the overcast skies and a chance of afternoon rain, folks from all over the Cuyahoga Valley are gathering to participate in the first ever, 5th annual Everett Fishing Derby! Pictures to follow!

Since its construction, the Everett Team Track & Community Park has been the site of many festivals and gatherings. The annual Fishing Derby, sponsored by the Benevolent Society of the Possum, is always a crowd pleaser.

Unfortunately, there is no fishing hole near Everett's Team Track. Event organizers rent a fully stocked aquarium car and have it delivered directly to the park. Derby participants are given 15 minutes to climb aboard the car, drop a line, and catch a fish (everyone is guaranteed at least one big one).  Some say it's the best fishing experience they've ever had.

The derby's popularity has even resulted in local schools making it a school holiday.

By far the most popular event at the derby is the Shooting-Fish-in-a-Barrel game. Three dollars gets you three shots and you keep any fish you hit.
