I dunno if someone else has covered this but FWIW here is the O gauge T&P New Product news. Lionel is now selling their unclaimed surplus corrected T&P F-7 shells. A’s are $125, B’s are $110. A numbers 1511 and 1512 with corresponding B’s are available. To order call 1(800) 454-6635.
Lionel projects a T&P 4-6-0 in 2021. Unfortunately with a coal tender but in fairness I understand a few coal fired ones hung on after WW-1 for a while. It will be a legacy offering.

Golden Gate Depot a division of Sunset is planning an O scale 1950’s T&P streamline 8 car passenger train. It remains to be seen if they offer a three rail set as well. Rattler 21 says if they get 50 requests they might.

I sincerely hope this is “new news...”

GGD does not require 50 3 rail reservations. GGD requires at least 300 cars total to be reserved - 2 and 3 rail rail combined.

My friend Mike Walter who has a large scale hand laid 2 rail layout with Lionel 3 rail in the center offered to repaint the boiler on my T&P 4-6-0 from its ugly mint color. Took the engine to his house today  for its first run and it was shorted out. Short is in the loco. Considering my T&P F-7 ABA won’t run on my z-400 I wonder if maybe I have bought my last Lionel engine of any kind.

I packed the engine back up in anticipation of sending it back to Charles Ro or Lionel. It’s got a coal tender and the boiler is painted a bilious mint green and it’s numbered for the T&P 4-6-0 that runs on the Texas State Railroad, 315. It better resembles one of the later ones with compound cylinders numbered in the 400’s and of course it should have an oil tender. If I get motivated I’ll unpack it later today and post pics.

But wait, there's more. The smoke stack is too short. The sand and steam domes are too short and are the wrong style. And the boiler is too large in diameter. Lionel simply took a mold from some former toy engine and reran it as a T&P model. It isn't even close to looking like the 316 shown in some of the old RR picture books. The color could be a simple fix. I'll do that to mine. But the casting is just plain wrong.
