Have you ever worked on a building to make it look run down or seedy? I’m in the process of creating a block of run down housing and dilapidated buildings. This is my first one. Here’s a before and after picture of an MTH tenement. It’s not on the layout yet, just on the bench. Let me know what you think, and let’s see some of yours.

great job.

A spray of bullet holes. Yikes! That really is in a seedy section of town.
P.s. Nice job!
Really fabulous work!! Who knew a MTH townhouse building could ever look like what you have created!
That is FREAKIN' AWESOME!

Front doors look too good. Rough them up a bit, too.
Thank you guys, glad someone saw the bullet holes. Rod, what are you suggesting for the front door? Bullets not enough? I think when I get it on the layout a guy will be hanging around the door.
I really like what youve done to the place. I agree that the doors need a little work, maybe a place where it was kicked in? Then covered with something that looks like it came from an old pallet.
Ok, I think I can come up with something tomorrow. Stay tuned.
probably the only reason the shutters look odd to me is because i had a job one time painting them. the center slats of shutters pivot at the ends, so if either of the sides rails were missing, all the slats would fall out and not really look broken in fractional pieces like that.
just sayin'
Well done!

Gee, with that poster on one side, and a few above mentioned tweaks, that would fit into my mining ghost town..makes me think of Rhyolite, say, before some of its structured shells deteriorated further, or maybe Jerome. These kits can be well bashed.
Very nice work.
It reminds me of my days commuting to Temple in North Philly, which brought trepidation then and now, lol. I wouldn't want to model that on my layout, though.
Very cool!
Oh man, this is too much. Fantastic job. I didn't recognize that it was the same building.
Rough neighborhood. Nice work.

If you go back into that neighborhood to fix those doors I'd bring some protection. You never know who you might run up against, especially if you're the landlord! LOL!!! Great work!
Given the look of the gal hanging out of the window, you'll need some "protection," all right. . . . .

Nice Guy. When I saw the first picture, I was expecting old green to be on the houses. The old siding on our old house was white but where it was chipped was yucky old green. I guess it was coated over a few times before the shingles were applied some time later.
