Trestleking,

You are now being warned with the truth. You are wasting your time attending one of the largest toy train meet in the country and meeting folks from all other the country. You might even meet me there! Mark Boyce did!

Do NOT, Do NOT let anyone steer you away from the truth about York. You are going to be thoroughly overwhelmed by the sheer size of York. Your head will spin in circles when you see the volume of trains for sale. Overload! York is the motherload of train meets, even the grandmotherload!

Welcome to Eddie's countdown till Friday at noon, April 24th when the gates of toy train heaven opens!

Ted is right!!  He is everywhere at York!!!  I don't know how many times I ran into him!!

I've tried for xx Yorks to miss Ted, but, dang, I still see him there every six months.  LOL

If "right across from breakfast" is the Days Inn, that's an OK choice.  I looked at it this time; for one of the 2020 meets (can't remember which one), it appears that they don't realize when the meet is, so the rate is relatively low.

Another option is to book at the last minute.  On several occasions, I've found really good rates by booking less than a week in advance.  In some cases, it's been at the same hotel - book the lower rate and cancel the previous reservation.  Just need to play the game...

When booking hotel reservations, the heck with any "travel sites". Just a months ago it was on the news that one gets BETTER rates and more current availabilty info from calling the front desk direct....and double check that the phone number corresponds to the hotel.

I've had deceivers try and dupe me.

Good point. I've seen travel sites trying to look like the actual hotel.
