OH DEAR, the Dark side?
My experience with working on nothing but E7s for I think over a year now has shown me the light that there is no dark side to this hobby. All the roads are fun to work on and model. It's all about research and learning. For a "standard" design locomotive, there is nothing standard about what the railroads did to them after delivery.
There are a lot of wonderful people out there who are willing to share there knowledge on this road and so many others. Makes the hobby so much more interesting!
Yes, many RR's learned to keep them out of the mountains. Somebody on the SP said they did not have the traction effort to pull the skin off a grape!
