We just received a Lionel PRR T1 Duplex from a Forum member and it's a real hit! I've long admired this unusual and unique piece of RR history with its art deco styling and 4-4-4-4 wheel arrangement. I have an old issue of Trains Magazine with a delightful account of one of these at the end of their career being called up for a substitute run from Ohio into Ft Wayne IN. The engineer and fireman conspired to see what she would do considering this was probably the last trip any of them would make with her. On the last stretch into Ft Wayne they covered the final leg of 37 miles from a standstill to the end averaging 127 MPH! That's amazing....

Here's the guilty parties being called to the carpet for a reprimand...

I love this beast!

Thank's again Alan

IF she wouldn't do 120MPH...she needed worked on...was the old rule of

thumb west of Crestline.   You folks need to get the PRRT&HS series on the

PRR TEE starting in Fall 2001.  You want fast steam; this is YOUR chooch...

I kid you not!  And nowhere near as lousy as the the copy cat/ so-called

experts have made them out to be, either.  Best of the lot?  PRR 5500...

probably the fastest steamer built in the USA, possibily the world.  Franklin

rotary "B" poppet gear, and revised valve timing...a hot rod if there ever was

one.  MetroLiner speeds, a generation before the fact!

Hi Sam, congrats on your new loco!  I had my scale T1 Duplex up for sale here a few months ago... but it was one of the few "scale" items I had listed, so I decided to keep it after all.    Not surprised to hear that you feel it needs ERR cruise, but that's to be expected since it (the scale one) was produced around 2000 if I'm not mistaken.  Indeed, it's a real gem, for sure.

Enjoy!!!

Im guessing you know MTH has the S2 in the Imperial Rail King line. Not as nice as the premier but the Imperial's are pretty sharp.

Very familiar with it (I even have the correct Proto-2 sound set in case I upgrade my 3rd Rail) but I've been obsessed with scale-sized models, despite the fact that I'll eventually need a warehouse to build a layout big enough to support them.
