If someone has one of these, I'd like to see what's under the hood.  If it doesn't have the RCMC and the flywheel tach, I'd expect what I'm hearing.

When I get to the store on Friday morning "PST"...Ill pop one open to see what's up so we can get to the bottom of that. I will also see if it has poor slow speed operation.

Thanks for the explanation, Norton.

Am not trying to be a budinski here, but why would Lionel use a different set of drivers and rods for presumably the same engine produced in the past? And, So I know a little about what I am reading, what is BEMF and RCMC stand for and what do they do?

Can't answer why they used different components. Maybe a different factory is making them but the formite who did the swap said the fasteners were different.

I am getting curious why its taking Lionel so long to determine the cause. Maybe because the fix will not be easy or cheap.

BEMF= Back Electro Motive Force. Same technology used in Electric RR cruise boards.

RCMC= ???? Its the newer Lionel receiver motor driver board all in one.
