Talking to the MTH rep today. He says that in ten days or so, he'll have both 3-2 and 2-3 N&W J Class 4-8-4s to send out.  Too cool.  Just in time for the  big celebration and re-activation of world famous 611 !

I'm thinking about a 2-3 version to replace my old Proto 1, 611.  The question is:  What will be used for cab chatter, and station sounds in this version.   Can't use the old Powhatan arrow, or Pocahontas sounds and stops.  Also hoping they will paint the drive axle ends, and blacken the driver tires, so I won't have to.  Should be a really terrific chooch, as Mike has a pretty good handle on this one !  I'm not going to be really fussy over the whistle.  Long as it's close, I'm in .

Now I'm hoping just the oppposite !  I want 2015 cab chatter and station talk.  I notice that the light weight cars for this locomotive are lettered for NS, so I've got reason to believe the 611 will be loaded at the factory with modern day chooch stuff.   The heavyweight cars are lettered for N&W, so perhaps the other J Class 4-8-4s will receive the more traditional chip.
