All is settling down at Vicky's trailer park. Sunday night. Dogs asleep in her dog house. The deaf old lady in #23 has her console tubed radio up loud, but everyone is still enjoying it. Ahhh, life is good. The milk man has just come home after a hard day. He has to get up at 4 am, but he feels wonderful because he has his own little home. #12. He falls asleep smelling the hot dogs that were BBQ by the pool that night. Sam is sitting next to his travel trailer. He isn't charged for the space. He's staring at the gray gravel again. That means someone will have to find him walking in the night. They all take care of each other. Don

Scale Rail,
Very much enjoyed your post above about the trailer park. Having a story behind elements of a layout makes it more enjoyable.
Thanks,
George

Ah, memories. The above was the beverage of choice when an extra dollar was available after (underage) beer purchases. I’ll always remember the guy at the counter stating, “Son, that s__t will kill ya!”. Luckily, I retained enough brain cells to successfully wire my layout decades later.🤪
I favor “night running” for many reasons. The ambiance of trains chugging through the dark on their way to unknown destinations while sounding a forlorn horn or whistle, to me, strikes at the heart of railroading. Plus, it obscures my botched attempts at scenery.
Guys, great pictures and videos.
Here is a classic Night Train LP album cover that fits the topic title. See one can blend model trains and vintage audio hobbies together.

Way back in the autumn of 1964, I was using an old 35mm camera that wasn't the best, but I happened to be down in the "West Bottoms" industrial district of Kansas City, Mo one bright moonlit night and happened upon a Frisco Baldwin VO1000. It was sitting still, idling, while the night trick crew inside was eating their late supper.
I figured the engine would be still long enough so that I would have time to set up my tripod and do a time exposure. The pic didn't turn out the best... but it's better than nothing. That was so long ago. Wish I would have taken tons of pics back then.
About the pic:
Just a quick slob shot I took with my iPhone in a semi-darkened room. The layout is the current bench work and "PhotoFlats" that exist in this hobby/computer room. I will be repurposing the space this intrusive layout consumes into a downsized L-shaped industrial switching layout set in KC.
I will be calling the new layout the "Riverfront District". Thereon will labor my KC&G switch engines as well as other KC-oriented power.
