The passing of Ron Sebastian

I never had the privilege of meeting this fine man,but that's beside the point. Our condolences and prayers go out to his family and friends.

I may have been at that store a few years ago. This is sad news, yet his sharing a great hobby means he left a meaningful legacy.

I never got to meet Ron but I did talk with him several times when ordering parts.

Very worrisome turn of events.  Hope DesPlaines Hobbies continues, but Ron was the driving force behind the business.  Reminds one of Hills Hobbies (Park Ridge, IL); when Mike sold the business to some amateurs who thought they would learn the business on the fly, well, the store closed in about a year. If DesPlaines Hobbies goes, it will be very ominous for the hobby.

Sad (and surprising) news.

Beyond any loss to the hobby (which will be huge), he was a genuinely nice person (one time when I was being grumpy, he didn't let my attitude bother him), who will be missed by many.

Prayers and condolences to the Sebastian family for the loss of Ron. It is hoped that the Des Plains hobby shop continues but today very few wish to enter the hobby business.

I am in shock.  I meant to call Ron and Sue this past week to tell them how my cancer battle is doing and now I won't get to hear Ron's voice here on earth.  To Sue, the girls and the staff at Des Plaines my sincere sympathies.

On trusted information, Des Plaines Hoobies will continue on, with Sue and the girls keeping it running!    I'm not sure if the O Scale America line will fare as well........   Time will tell.

When attending the Wheaton show, it was mandatory to stop at Hill's, Des Plaines, and the other in Chicago, as actual O scale shops, with only that in Detroit within another long drive.  O scale shops are too few.  Sorry to lose this gentleman.
