Engine 39 is a historic and unique Pennsylvania Railroad designed G5s Class 4-6-0 locomotive that served the people of Long Island from 1929 to 1955. For thirty-five years, (since 1980), Long Islanders have been working toward restoration of this 4-6-0 steamer. The Museum still needs one million dollars to complete the restoration of Long Island Rail Road steam locomotive #39 and bring her back into revenue service. All funds raised from the sale of this car will go toward the restoration.
You can read about the History of LIRR #39 and the work that has already been done to her at www.rmli.org Follow us on our “Steam up LIRR 39” Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SteamUpLIRR39/?fref=ts Please help us realize the vision of a coal fire and popping valves of a Pennsylvania/LIRR iron work-horse by adding this boxcar to your train collection! Thank you!
