I was preparing to order some bulbs for my prewar 59 and 54 lampposts and I knew they were the 1442 bulb but I never thought about the options available to me.  You can order this bulb in pearl, white, frosted, clear, and with an led inside the pear shaped bulb.  I know the advantages of the led but had no idea it could be ordered as a 1442.   My query to you,  what type of bulb do you use and why.

For #59 the original light bulb was a #40 which, to the best of my knowledge, is no longer made.  You can purchase teardrop style light bulbs but they are smaller than the original.  As for finish - either white paint or frosted.  The frosted originals had actual frosted glass.  The clear bulb is the result of trying to clean an original which had white paint - I managed to over clean it.
