S gauge does not have 3 rails.

Hi Rusty • Always enjoy seeing S Gauge.
Gary & Cheers from Michigan
The KGB was interested in our trains? The cold war was real??
Nice noses, though.
a few layout progress pics.
I finally finished ballasting the yard storage tracks.
welding repair at the engine house
must be a little nip in the air
Newly installed crossing tower
sand house next to the engine shop
Yard tower at the opposite end of the yard
Loading at the icing station
freight station activity
I still need to do all the final scenic and detail work in the yard.
An AM PA emerges from a tunnel
Dang Rich... We need more photo's like yours an less like mine!
Rusty
Rich,
Great photos and that's a fine looking layout! Super realistic with the excellent structures, scenery, and all the details and figures. Thanks for sharing!
Is that AM track and turnouts?
Mike A.
PS: Not sure if I'm the only one, but the welding photo didn't come up for me.
Mike,
AM track and turnouts with tortise switch machines.
Rusty,
I always look forward to your great pics. Always realistic and nicely staged.
Oooh, nice enjoyable photos, all.
TrainsR4Me,
Nice photos! I like your street scene with lots of people/activity. Most importantly, you took the time to populate those cars on the road with actual drivers! Nice touch.
Thank you for posting.
Mike A.
I too love the street scene. I have one much like it with lots of Plasticville, Marx, Littletown, and Hallmark; plenty of cars on the street and people on the sidewalk. I'll bet you love your toys like I do.
Rusty: Don't sell yourself short, I always enjoy your pics.
Rich: Nice! Your layout offers great evidence that Hi-Railing in S can be VERY nice!
TrainsR4Me: Enjoyed your pics too! Thanks for sharing! That AF PA is mighty "tuff" looking coming at us head-on!
I'll bet that EP5 runs nice with 2 motors. Looks better with the prototype black trucks.

It is a beautiful runner. I had a shorting problem with it, though. A wire connection on top of the trucks was shorting to the frame. Fixed by a bit of electrician's tape.
Here, park visitors are treated to the sight and sound of AF 302 and K-Line 3005 rumbling by. (Edit: Of course they're gonna scatter when that 302 trailing truck bumps toward them. Dang.)
Nice scene. The figures draw the attention in. How many people do you have on that layout? Where do they all come from?
Mike A.
Hello Mikeaa, I have just about 200 figures on the layout, which is 8'8" X 15' 3". As the layout sports 2 O-gauge tracks and 1 of S, not all the figures are true 1/64 scale. Most of the S ones came from an eBay seller in Hong Kong. They were very inexpensive, but needed repainting, which I enjoy doing.
Others are Marx from my childhood, Bachmann, Life Like, Arttista, Scenic Express, and a few firms that are now out of business. Train shows, magazine ads and eBay have yielded the best results.

Well, first you get a pair of S scale birds, then a pair of S scale bees...
I'm glad to see this thread finally got some other contributions. I enjoy seeing other S-folks work. It helps to show off what S is all about.

Small details like the figures really make a scene come alive. Thanks for identifying where you found them. I did recognize one or two as having come from that seller on eBay, but you did a great job repainting them!
Thanks! Mike A.
(edit) PS: It's amazing how that O Gauge Hudson fits in. It looks about the same size as the AF Atlantic. It must be undersized.
Rusty
LOL, Good one Rusty! I know we got birds. Now if only we could get the bees in S Scale!
LOL!
Good one Mark!
HaHaHa, Mark. So funny!
Rich,
More great photos! Thanks!
I like that old car in the field. Looks very realistic with the weathering and broken headlight.

Yes, it's the same size as the AF 283. It is a K-Line-made copy of the Marx 333, itself a "hybrid", as it ran on O-gauge track but was 3/16" scale in dimensions, similar to a line that AF did before the war.
