Time for the new catalog?

I was also thinking about this today, Larry. I found my hand-written notes which have all my pre-order information for the 2011 catalog. I placed my large pre-order last year on 2/23 and I know I had the catalog for several weeks (at least) before placing the order. Bottom line is I'm thinking that the catalog was out by this time last year.

Here's hoping we see it soon.

I seem to recall a thread here from a month or two back discussing the 2012 LCT catalog. The general feeling was that Rich Foster of MTH had indicated that the catalog release would be delayed until the back log of items still not produced from the 2011 catalog had entered the pipeline. Production issues in China apparently caused a lot of delays and MTH was reluctant to release another LCT catalog when so much from 2011 was still not delivered. Maybe that situation has improved; I don't know.I too am anxious to see the new catalog.

"I know MTH is working on the 2012 Lionel Corporation Tinplate Catalog. I belive you will see it in late March early April." I'm guessing York.

Could it be that the new catalog is being printed in China? If this is the case, it will be here when it gets here

I'd love to see it before but I'm thinking we won't see it till York.

That would also be my thought on the matter. There remains a lot to be delivered from past catalogs, and my recommendation/hope would be to catch up first before announcing new items.

Yesterdays e-mail shows them releasing a whole lot more, although mostly standard gauge. The past two months indicate quite a lot of releases. There can't be that much more left from the old catalog.

If you were an air-traffic controller would you pile up your planes over LaGuardia? No, You would space em 30 miles apart...same thing with catalogs...

I wouldn't be surprised if those catalogs come in 30 days apart.

with RTR ...then Tinplate....then 2012 Vol2 in the middle of April.

Allan's correct, Larry. Last week I did a quick "survey" of what's in the catalog versus what's shipped and well over 50 percent (60?) has yet to, er, reach our shores.

Not sure we need more temptation till items ordered from 2011 catalog are received (and paid for!)

Agreed.  I'm looking forward to the new catalogs, but they need to ship the bulk of already cataloged items first.
