What about when you shut it down and the locomotive bellows at you something like, "Rock Island 1365, we're outa here!"?

I like crew talk, realistic or not. I wish there were some randomness. Visitors I have had to see my layout, most of which have no clue of what the real crew talk is, are amused by it. I also like MTH engine shut down sounds that include a dog barking and a frog croaking.

But that’s just me – I seem to enjoy all of it

I agree with BIG JIM MTH has the same sound set for the
past 5 years or more.The only thing they changed now with PS3.0
is a little deeper bass thats it.I have many MTH steam
engines and they all sound generally the same.I enjoy the MTH passenger
and freight proto sounds and I enjoy Lionel tower com and crew talk.
It would be nice if both compaines would make them more realistic

I HAVE BOTH MTH AND LIONEL ENGINES AND I STILL LOVE THEM

Radio traffic varies. Sometimes things are quiet, sometimes no one can get a word in edgewise.
Pay close attention to what the transmissions actually sound like. Note they aren't crystal clear and the dispatcher never says "Take the green".

Maybe so, but at least the dining car and the locomotive don't talk at the same time. Also, MTH Euro locomotives have passenger announcements and crew talk in the appropriate language (mainly French) which is cool.

Great. Lionel has announcements in English which is the appropriate language for their product and that's cool!

I hate crew talk. Use that space for something more realistic, like the sound of the firebox door opening and shutting.

I do really like the automated sequence in the Legacy K-4. The auto effects and dialog are nice and it makes everything easier with less button pushing and unlike the mth PFA you can still use the other sounds at the same time. Great feature that Lionel should expand upon.

I like the CrewTalk in Lionel's earlier Legacy engines, like my NS SD40-2 and Vision Line Hudson. I think the Hudson's engineer has somewhat accurate "New York" accent, no offense to anyone... But the start-up/shut down sequences really just make the train far more interesting to me than just the engine's sounds starting.

 

But I'm really dissapointed that, since 2011, Lionel's no longer making the Legacy engines with CrewTalk that says their roadname and number - It removes any uniqueness to the engine....
