Been working on my small O27 layout. Tonight I set up my track plan on a old piece of plywood that was just sitting around. The painters tape was added to be used to see how the layout would look with pine board sides.  Still have to cut the plywood though. Added two straight sections to make it easier for my grandfather's 229 and my dad's 637 Steam Locomotives to handle the small space still might change to half-straight sections to save space but not to sure on that.

You're off to a good start. Those Marx switches are really good to use on small layouts like that as they will work with just about anything that will run on o27 track. Some of the smaller engines by Marx don't play well with newer switches, but they are cheap and look right at home on smaller layouts.

 

A milk car platform would fit in nicely on that siding at the bottom edge.
