I put off getting a dcs system and am not sure how best to power it without blowing it up.

I have two z4000s . That means I have four outputs and inputs for the tiu. I’ve seen others get a z1000 just to always have power to the tiu. Can you do both, have fixed one powered and the TIU have its own power supply?

Also I’ve been wondering if I should try and get  a second tiu ( while I can) ? Any thoughts

I have two TIU's, 4 Z1000 Bricks, 2 Z500 Bricks and 2 Z4000's. I power the first TIU with a Z500 and Power ALL four channels with the 2 Z4000's. The second TIU I power with a Z500 and power ALL Channels with Z1000 Bricks. NO Problems. I run TIU's in Super Mode and have all my AIU's daisy chained to one or the other TIU's. One TIU has 4 AIU's and the other has 2 AIU's. NEVER had a power problem regardless of how many engines are lashed together and how many lighted passenger cars are running on whatever loop. 4 loops on main layout side and 4 on secondary layout side which is basically my YARD side although it is bigger than the main layout.
