Tmcc engine shutting down

I'd start by reseating the chips on the Railsounds board, that's a frequent issue with new-old stock.

It's been a little while since this had happened. It has just started occurring again and I have done a factory reset on it, but still no results.

Some vintages of RailSounds will drop the sound when they get a momentary power interruption, that's why I created the YLB - RailSounds Battery Replacement.  This is a permanent battery replacement that you install once and you're done.

It's not that kind of cut out. Instead it will be running and then it will play the blowdown and shut off the sounds.

Well, it's losing power and thinking it's time to shutdown.  Of course, without seeing it, I can't really say if something is broken or it's just a power interruption.  I have a number of locomotives that don't like brief power interruptions, and a couple of them will do the shutdown and then be silent.

So should I try your YLB and see then.

You can first just try a $1 alkaline battery.  If that solves your problem, the YLB is just a permanent solution that replaces the battery and never needs replacement.

Well currently I have a battery in it and it's doing nothing.

Well, if the battery is good and not dead, I'd say it's likely the RailSounds power supply is broken.

Ok, I can get one easily get one so I will try to replace it.

Swap out the two cards, start with the power supply and if that doesn't help, swap out the RS audio board.

I have a Lionel 6-38079 Gs2 SP Daylight that I got at York a month back. I have had no issues with it as the box was sealed and it was brand new from the factory. Recently a problem had came up where when it is running around the layout, the sounds play the shutdown sequence and shut off and don't come back on till I press aux 1 then 3 on the cab 1. I had this happen with my old TMCC remote. Found out I had a sticking button on the remote.

Reseating would be making sure chips, wires, boards, plugs, etc. are correctly, fully and firmly seated in thier positions.

Oh, that makes sense. I have tried both, but but no results.

Yes, reseat, not reset.   There really is no "reset" to Railsounds 4 boards.

So I have now tried swapping out the power board, railsounds board, and even the radio board, but still the shutting down.

Also would like to mention that this has RS 5.0

Well, there's really no "reset" to RS5 either, nothing is written to the board in any of these versions.

I'd have to be looking at the wiring and motherboard at this point, something is obviously killing the connection to the power and forcing the triggering of the shutdown sequence.

I also tried the daylight with another Railsounds 5.0 tender and it still happened. Maybe it's something in the engine. My thought is either the radio board or the IR tether.

Not sure how it gets a shutdown sequence.  I thought you already swapped the R2LC?

I did so thats probably not an issue now.

I am getting the same issue with a few different RS5 and early Legacy Lionel steams when running with in TMCC with MTH Z-Controller power. When running TMCC with an old Postwar LW, this shut down problem doesn't occur.

It took me a few resets and switching out of power supply boards to resolve my issue.
