TMCC, etc antenna

The TMCC antenna on steam engines are the handrails insulated from the body and made common at one end resembling a Y. I have a prototype that I want to model that boiler side handrails are joined by a cross brace on the pilot making a closed loop. Will TMCC be affected if the antenna is closed loop instead of a Y.

As long as the handrails are insulated from the boiler shell, it'll work fine. The actual shape of the antenna is a non-issue, the wavelength of 455khz is around 2160 feet!
