I hope that this finds you well! Today Todd Architectural Models celebrates their 52nd year of being in business. Since the TCA York April Show has been canceled I though it best to catch those on our mailing list up with progress on orders and new projects.

Outstanding orders are in the pipeline and we have about a dozen in progress right now. It is a little bit harder to hold commitments because the staff is working remotely and getting some supplies is taking a little bit of ingenuity due to certain vendors currently unable to ship from warehouses.

Back in January- it seems like a long time now- I attended the Amherst Model Railway Society’s show in Springfield for the first time. Reactions ran the gamut from “I saw you last year, but did not buy anything” to “these models are just what the hobby needs” to “I’ll take that one”. I even ran into one of my college fraternity brothers and several of the Somerset 4-H Trainmasters!  We presented our first AMRS Show historic project, the “Birthplace of Basketball”. The building seems simplistic in design but there are varying architectural elements that make the elevation visually stimulating. The shadowbox features our first “door under” detail. https://www.toddarchitecturalm...-spfld-1-15-1-8-long

Other new updates include:

1. When ordering through the website or calling the shop you will be able to request clear, translucent, Roscolux Grey (see-through when lit from behind) or Roscolux Grey with translucent behind (warm white glow when lit from behind) glazing for the windows, and your preference of unlit or lit. Please understand that there is now a slight upcharge for adding translucent material behind the Roscolux Grey. We have changed over to using 12V DC strip LED’s for the lighting and color coded wiring for each floor.

 2. A second Paterson (NJ) Mill Building, now known as the Art Factory. The building caught my eye when I was doing the research for the first Paterson Silk Mill project. As such, it was already in the camera when an expression of interest was received for that specific building. It is huge in real life, so much so that the S Scale version can be used to gently force perspective on an O Scale layout. The O Scale shadowbox is made in three pieces for an overall length of 27-1/2”. The height at the peak is 17-1/2”. https://www.toddarchitecturalm...h-04-27-1-2-long-lit

3. The third run in our original StreetScape series of shadowbox buildings is in progress. Four of the six are ready to assemble and the other two are being painted this week and next. Look for six new color schemes and new architectural details to add those that you already have. They will be ready for shipment on May 1, 2020. https://www.toddarchitecturalm...et-unlit-6-buildings

4. We recently received an order for shelf layout shadowboxes with the specification that the height be no more than 8”. The original D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Co. 4-story building has been altered to three stories. We also created a reversed design of the elevation. Lastly we created a new window design and a color scheme to match an historic building in our downtown Chatham, NJ. But there’s more! We also made a 5-story version as has been suggested in the past. The 3- and 5-story versions do not have stenciled building lettering, but we can do that custom for you if you so desire.

5. Work started last week to replicate the Powerhouse building of the Hudson and Manhattan Railroad located in Jersey City. We’re doing the west elevation, and like the Paterson Mill- Art Factory project, it will have to be in several pieces.

We are running a 10% off sale through the end of April. Please use coupon code YORK10%OFF when checking out on the website. To celebrate today’s 52nd anniversary, for each increment of $100 of your order we will include a sheet of our Intertrack Fence 1 for orders received by midnight tonight!

Stay well and I look forward to hearing from you soon,
