Track Cleaning Car - Seeking comments on Lionel 6-36878 | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Lionel made a two-disc Track Cleaning item (6-36878), which is not motorized. Its two spinning discs may be a better track cleaning device than their one-disc version. However, I've heard that the two-disc model may be vulnerable to leaks of cleaning fluid from its onboard tank. I'm considering buying a 6-36878, but I don't want to buy a leaking product. Comments from hobbyists welcome.

I have one (not sure which number) that has the two counter-rotating discs underneath the tank. I have not used it much, but it did remove a surprising amount of crud from the track (Super O). I used 409 in it, which we used to use on the large floor layout for display at Cal Stewart.

All the running gear is plastic, I wonder how long it'll last...

I also wonder why they have geared disks if there's no motor...

The disc's are powered by the wheels.

Thanks for a prompt response. No one has (as yet) commented on the matter of "leaks," so that may be an indication that leaking is not a problem.
