I built a small American Flyer layout a year ago using fastrack and a 180 watt transformer with power controller. It worked beautifully with my conventional Flyer locos. Then I discovered Legacy and I was hooked. I loved having the ability to walk around the layout and control the trains so I had to buy a Powermaster in order to run BOTH Legacy and conventional albeit not at the same time. So...my question is what do I do with the original power controller? I was using the accessory side to power my switches (I like throwing the levers) since I originally wasn't using Legacy. Fortunately, I had a small 40 watt transformer that came with my Docksider set and since there is only two terminals I have to set the throttle at full in order to operate the switches. Am I missing something? Is there something I should do differently? It all works for me now, but if I can make it better I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

Yup. The Powermaster is connected to a 180 watt transformer(PowerHouse?). Is that what they call a brick? Anyway it came with the power controller as a set. The controller which looks like the old style conventional ones is eliminated. I'm assuming its original role was to both vary a locomotive's speed and supply a constant 18 volts for accessories through separate terminals. Sorry...I'm not too hip on the technical designations.

IMG_0276IMG_0278IMG_0279Thanks Mark. Here's what I've got and how I connected it. The screw terminals attach to a bus to which track feeder wires attach. The Powerhouse power supply plug was initially connected to the Power Controller. So...do I reconnect it to the controller, the controller to track ( actually it goes to a bus to which feeder wires connect) and in my case the red and black wires are attached to that bus and I don't use the doghouse shaped input on the PowerMaster? The Base 1L then becomes a doorstop? Sorry about the bad sentence structure.
