Hello, I’m a long time reader of the forum, but this is my first post.

I recently purchased an MTH F40PH RTR set that came with the DCS explorer. For Christmas, I received an MTH Premier Zephyr (PS3). I have been able to add and run both engines successfully on the Explorer.

A few days ago, I found a M-10000 PS2 set (early 2000’s) from a hobby store that was still factory sealed. I tried adding this engine to the explorer and while the train cars lIgor up properly, the engine wI’ll not turn on or be read by the DCS app. I can successfully run the M-10000 in conventional mode but the engine just won’t power up wit’s the DCS Explorer. My other trains still run properly using the explorer. To remove variables, I’m only using the explorer on a O-72 curve circle test track and only using one engine/set at a time. I’m also powering off the explorer before I switch equipment.

Is there something I need to do to have the M-10000 run using the DCS Explorer? i.e. a switch or something (like I have on some of my Lionel engines). I am planning to eventually build a layout were I’ll get a full fledged TIU/WIU setup. Just saving the cash for it and wanting to play with these cool trains in the meantime.

Also want to note that I replaced the 9v rechargeable battery in the M-10000 to a BCR, so the battery isn’t a problem. And again the train works perfectly in conventional mode and the explorer runs PS3 trains smoothly.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
