Running engines with both being assigned the same engine ID  Set as Cab1 with Railsounds 5

  1.  Assigned A unit as #12.  Assigned B unit as #13.

  1. Both will run fine as solo and also coupled.

  1. Sounds crew talk come from both engines.

Running both engines as a lash up with #12 (A) being assigned as lead

  1. I create a train (in this case #8).

  1. I start buy adding the A unit.  No problem

  1. I then at the B unit.  There is no icon for crew talk or sounds

  1.  If I press set, it says that it is programming trains, then ready to run

  1.  If I do that, the train will not power up.

  1. In this case the newly created train runs with sounds coming out of the B unit

  1. There is no control of the headlight.  It stays in the off position

I have never had experience with 3rd Rail sunset.  I think the instructions were pretty straight forward.  Do you have some thoughts on where I am derailed?

Have never done one with a Cab2 so I'm curious. Have Atlas units, guessing same ERR units installed. These are an E6-A and an E6-B unit? To begin at your last question #1, does it ask which way the trailing unit is facing? I'd guess if it doesn't think it is rearward the headlight won't illuminate.  The other stuff is odd. Have you tried setting them as engine 1 and then pretending to make the lash up with the A and B units in the different position so you are just running one engine and see if they function?

I have the identical Atlas units you have.  No problem with those at all.

When you enter the 2nd engine, you can pick direction prior to pressing the set button.  It has no effect.  "Dead Train".  Neither the "A" or the "B" power up.

Scott suggested setting the engines to TMCC instead of CAB1.  I will give it a try.  I thought I did that also, but no avail.

IIRC he may be onto something. Cab-1 is the primitive setting? Is there also a listing for "100 speed steps" or something? We have been running the Atlas A-B units all with the same engine number. Have an A-A pair that is yet to be entered.

I made up my Atlas Engines without a hitch.  The 3rd Rail supposedly running the same software is not working.  I will sset the engines to TMCC tonight and see if I get anywhere.  Stay tuned, unless someone has something else to put in.
